"No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle."
Thank you for your interest in Edelweiss Farms!
We are a private family-owned riding facility located just minutes from downtown Jefferson. Our mission is to provide a safe, fun learning environment for adults and children alike.
From beginners as young as five years old, to intermediate adults looking for some constructive time in the saddle, we hope to foster the love of horseback riding with a focus on correct equitation, and ever-careful horsemanship in the saddle as well as on the ground.
We are committed to the safety of both horse and rider, and want to share our love of these beautiful animals with our friends and neighbors in an educational environment.
~Savannah Lankford, owner/instructor
We offer three options for our riders, based on individual rider needs and ability.
Beginner Private: $45/lesson
These classes are 30 minutes long, and focus primarily on riding/grooming/ground safety. Tacking/untacking is done by the instructor, as this is a task that is usually a bit over the young beginner's head and requires reach/strength that they may not yet possess. The lesson begins upon arrival, includes watching the pony being tacked, assisting in brushing, and then riding for the remaining time.
This class is best for the beginner, as an introduction to riding and very basic safety.
Beginner Semi-Private: $45/lesson
This class is composed of 2-3 students who demonstrate the ability to listen to instruction, are capable of controlling their horse or pony at a walk and trot, have the basics of ground safety mastered, and show the initiative to help and/or complete the tacking process on their own. This class is 60 minutes long, which includes the time it takes to groom, tack, ride, and then untack at the end of the lesson.
Advanced Semi-Private: $45/lesson
This class is for the rider who has mastered tacking their horse or pony on their own, respects ground safety rules at all times, can trot on the correct diagonal and is mastering the canter. This class is also a great tool for those interested in competing in eventing, as it provides focus on finer details and more complex movements. This class is 60 minutes long, and includes the time it takes to groom, tack, ride, and untack at the end of the lesson.
